Mongolia: "Handcombed"

Rich in many types of fine wool, Mongolia could be called a "Handcombed".

The natural products we sell are created from yak down, camel and sheep wools and cashmere. Having come from animals so robust they adapted to a very harsh climate (and have passed through the natural selection process), Mongolian textiles are incredibly soft, like a second skin, and extra warm.

Wool is Eco-Friendly

  • Wool is a renewable and sustainable natural resource; the animals grow a new fleece each year and live on vegetation, which is also self-replenishing.
  • Processing of wool requires little environmental impact compared to other man-made fibres. It is biodegradable and therefore gentle on the environment.

Wool: A Performance Fibre

fibre

Naturally occurring wool and cashmere are some of the most elastic, textured, well-preserved and warmest fibres. Scientists have still not discovered chemical products with similar structures to wool and cashmere, so there is nothing like the natural material, which remains the best.

Breathability - Wool fibres can absorb large quantities of moisture and transfer it out through evaporation into the air. This keeps skin feeling fresh and dry for longer.

Temperature regulation - Wool provides a personal "air conditioning" system to regulate temperature through a natural crimp, which creates many tiny insulating air pockets.

Odour resistance - Wool's breathability helps to reduce sweat and odour, keeping the wearer's skin drier and cleaner. The fibre's complex chemical structure locks away odour, only releasing it upon washing.

Softness and comfort - The fine fibres of today's wool achieve incredibly high standards of softness, making it one of the most comfortable and high performance fibres for luxury textiles.

Hypoallergenic - Wool has a natural in-built resistance to bacteria, mildew and mould. This is due to its ability to repel moisture. Mildew and mould require moisture to thrive, as do dust mites, which are the leading trigger for asthma attacks.
